About Us
Welcome to The Dance Space. Our objective is to provide a safe, healthy and educational environment for both children and adults. The Dance Space’s expertly trained staff, exciting atmosphere and conscientious management has created a motivating ambiance for all ages. We are dedicated to creating a school of excellence by encouraging the art of dance and instilling positive principles as well as respect in our students.
Besides the recital The Dance Space performs at fund-raisers for local schools, community events, town fairs/activities and for charitable organizations. We do not perform in competitions as we do not feel it is important part of a dancer’s growth. We do not feel the need to place such extreme pressure on our students or on our customers finances. We believe that dancing is an art and encourage our dancers to feel the same. The only competition we believe in is from within.
We feel it’s great to give the students a chance to perform while giving back to their community. We do offer “specialized” clases called Performance Troupe or PT classes. PT classes are offered to all our dancers. When you register for PT class you are given an opportunity to perform at local events, recitals, community events and enjoy our workshops. Workshops are when we invite "celebrity" guest teachers to the studio for a private intensive. Some of our past workshops include...The NY JETS, NYC KNICKS, Brooklynettes Dance Team, Grandma the Clown from the BIG APPLE Circus, The Radio City ROCKETTES, Alvin Ailey Dance Workshop, Yoga Strengthening Workshops, Joffrey School of Ballet Master Class, Martha Graham Dance Workshop and BROADWAY Choreographer Stephanie Klemmons from Bring It On and Hamilton. We proudly perform at local events: The Huckleberry Frolic, Stars and Stripes Festivals, The American Cancer Society Relay for Life events, AdventureLand Park and the Long Island Ducks Games. Please visit our Events link to view our present and past PT performances.
Encouraged by the always positive spirit of our staff many of our students aspire for lofty goals, both in dance and beyond. The Dance Space is about dance, but also about self-esteem. We want to train the body, build self confidence and have fun. Maybe that’s why so many of our students stay with us until they finish high school and go on to pursuing dance in college as well as pre-professional summer dance programs.
